Only sites that meet specific AZE criteria are listed in this database. Broadly defined these are places where 95% or more of the entire, known population of an Endangered or Critically Endangered species (as defined by the IUCN 2004 Red List) occurs (see selection criteria for more details). If a country, class, or family does not appear on a particluar list, then a qualifying site/species does not currently exist.
